Straightening hair is extremely popular. Just about every woman or teenage girl owns a flat iron. We are willing to bet you own a flat iron as well. When you use a flat iron to create curls, you need to select a higher quality flat iron. Choose one that gets hot on the outside of the plates as well as has rounded edges. The other thing you need to pay attention to is the width of the flat iron, selecting a skinny flat iron will give you the best curls possible.
How to Soft Flat Iron Curls
Step 1: Brush your dry hair to remove any tangles.
Step 2: Start where you feel comfortable (the back of your head, your bangs or where your hair naturally parts and select a chunk of hair approximately one-half inch wide.
Step 3: Place your flat iron approximately an inch down your hair (you will have hair below the flat iron) and close the flat iron.
Step 4: Start twisting your flat iron away from your face (one time only) and gently pull the flat iron to the bottom of your hair making sure you have it clamped closed the entire time.
Step 5: Start twisting your flat iron around your hair as you would if you are using a curling iron. Allow your hair to remain it the “curling position” for approximately 30 seconds.
Step 6: Gently open the flat iron and allow your curl to naturally fall
Step 7: Repeat all steps until the remainder of your hair is curled.
Step 8: Finish your look by gently running a large pick through your hair. You do not want to use a brush or a small comb. A large pick will make gorgeous waves.
Step 9: Apply a small amount of hair wax to your curls ensuring they last the entire day or evening.
Tip:
If a curl is not as curly as you would like it, simply re-curl that chunk of hair. Slowly pull the flat iron down the hair allowing the hair to heat up and leave the flat iron in the curling position longer. If this does not work, try to curl a smaller section of hair.
Remember that dirty hair or hair that has products in it will not curl as well as clean, smooth, dry hair.
Learning how to create soft curls using a flat iron may require more than one attempt.
