Are you guilty of neglecting to clean your makeup brushes? Do you invest in new colours
and products all the time but forget about the necessity of having clean brushes? Don’t
worry, you’re not the only one. Cleaning your brushes isn’t something which really springs
to mind, however the build up in your brush can actually lead to bacterial infections and a
build up of product on your brush. If you think about it, using the same brush every day on
your skin is bound to be a breeding ground for bacteria; you’re applying the powder or
shadow to your face, but equally the brush is picking up any bacterias or grease which is
in your skin. And the result? Spots and blackheads are just to name a few.
So, create this handy little concoction which is cheap and effective and will save you from
having to invest in new, costly brushes. After all, a good quality brush isn’t cheap, so you
may as well look after them!
Make a glass of hot water and add a tablespoon of white vinegar. Add the brushes, and
soak for 20 minutes. You’ll be amazed when you return to see the water a dirty
brown….that’s all the powder that’s been put back on to your face! Remove from the
water, rinse briefly in hot water, followed by a rinse in cold water and then pat dry with a
towel or kitchen roll. Leave the brushes to dry before using.
This method is cheap and it works great!
