Who doesn’t love the look and smell of beach hair? Wind swept and sexy, this look is always killer! But beach hair spray is so pricey, so I decided to look into making my own, and I want to share my formula with all you beauties!
What you’ll need:
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons sea salt
A few drops of almond or coconut oil
A few drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance
8 oz (or more) empty spray bottle
Funnel
How to make:
Funnel the warm water into the empty spray bottle. It’s important it is warm so the salts dissolve! Then add the salts. Drip in a few drops of your almond or coconut oil and your essential oils until it smells the way you want it to. Then screw on the top and shake, shake, shake until everything is dissolved. You can add 1 tsp aloe vera gel if you feel you need more texture, or 1/2 tsp of lemon juice if you’d like to lighten your hair color.
Directions for use:
Spray and scrunch into damp hair to create soft barely there waves. For a more dramatic wave, spray into damp hair, braid and let dry. Undo your braids and spray and scrunch some more until you reach the desired effect. If you have fine hair that won’t hold a curl, I’ve found that I can use this prior to curling to hold my loose curls better. Or spray onto dry hair to add volume and texture for some va-va-voom.
Hope you enjoy this DIY beach hair spray as much as I did!
