We’ve all done it, grown tired of the “basic” garments hanging in our closets, but not all of us can go guilt free shopping on a whim. Some of us resort to shopping around our own closets looking for forgotten gems we might’ve missed. Not to mention the occasional rummaging through the boxes of “retired” clothes that we just can’t seem to toss out so we end up putting them in a box and storing them in the garage or attic. I recently moved, relocating to another city, and would rather spend my money on new housewares needed instead of splurging on a new dress or pair of shoes. So you can see how this predicament has me spending more time contemplating the things already in my closet, versus what I could be adding to it.
This style inspiration is a simple one. Simple, yet versatile, the “little black dress” always deserves a second consideration when looking for something to wear. Whether you need a casual ensemble or a fabulously glamorous one, the LBD has got your back baby! Here are four different ensembles with the same trusty LBD, two casual looks and two dressy looks for a little inspiration! *My dress is the “Short Sleeved Double U-Neck Dress” from American Apparel priced at $40. I know that’s a little pricey for a dress recommendation coming from a budget friendly writer, but this dress hugs my body and curves like no other. It’s flattering on me, I feel sexy in it, and those are definitely qualities we can all appreciate in a dress.
Daytime Casual: The simplest outfit ever. Pair your little black dress with some colorful sandals, add a few more splashes of color with accessories and the right purse, and off you go gorgeous!
Nighttime Casual: Add more color to your LBD, a pair of really cute socks, black sneakers, and a cover-up that compliments the outfit if it gets chilly at night where you are. Fun, flirty, and oh so comfy!
Daytime Dressy: I paired my favorite pair of wedged Steve Madden heels with my American Apparel LBD and my silver Juicy Couture necklace and bracelet for a sexy dressed up look.
Nighttime Dressy: For a sophisticated nighttime look you could match your little black dress with ankle booties and a matching cardigan for a little warmth when the sun goes down. This look goes especially nice with a top bun hairstyle.
