DIY Lip Sugar Scrub

I know LUSH makes some pretty awesome stuff, but before you purchase one of their lip scrubs have a look at this DIY lip sugar scrub recipe and decide whether you’d rather buy one or make it yourself!

DIY LIP SCRUB (1)

Homemade Lip Sugar (scrub)

You will need:

-A small empty makeup pot to store your lip scrub in

(I used a little black sample pot that I washed and kept from a LUSH sample of “Karma Kream”)

-2 tsp. white granulated sugar

-1 tsp. olive oil

-A couple drops of desired flavoring.  *I used lemon extract, but you can mix a little bit of “Kool-Aid” up and use that as flavoring too, but be careful not to use too much because the colorings in those mixes are pretty strong and a purple or blue dye might not look great on your lips, but if you want it colorful go for it!

Gettin’ scrubby with it:

In a small bowl, combine sugar, olive oil, and flavoring.  Mix it together until a pasty (as pasty as grains of sugar and oil can get ha!) and then scoop and pack the mixture into your desired storage container.  Apply to your lips and rub, rub, scrub!  Exfoliate your lips with this edible, lickable DIY lip sugar scrub recipe!

I’m just wondering…can you use this as a body scrub also? I have a sugar scrub and a sea salt scrub from Arbonné that seems to be little more than sugar/salt with oil and scent.

Hello Shannon! Yes! You could use this as a body scrub as well! You can use different oils as well if your skin is sensitive to olive oil. Grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, mineral oil… The options are endless. Just make small batches at a time, these ingredients are all natural and there are no preservatives to keep them from going bad. I hope this scrub works out for you!
