This one is for the long haired ladies out there. This quick and easy top bun is so versatile that you can wear it for any occasion, with any look. That being said, we all know a bun leaves great waves so you’re always going to be getting a two for one combo deal here and in the hairstyling world that’s always a gem.
I like to start with clean freshly blow dried hair because I tend to get the best curls after that way. Before blow drying I always like to protect my hair from the heat by applying some product. My everyday products are Moroccan argan oil from Sally Beauty Supply and a “Sleek and Shine” leave in cream conditioner by Garnier (not pictured). Whenever setting my hair in a bun or anything I spray it with my sea salt spray by Organix. That really helps set the waves.
Now, to do this type of bun you don’t need any pins, but you can use them to secure the look if you’re going to be doing things like, I don’t know acrobats or whatever, but I’ve never needed additional securing. The thing that matters most I’ve found is that you have to place the bun as high on your head as possible. Get that top bun way up there sister! If you were to lay down it shouldn’t stop you or hinder you at all, that’s how high it should sit on your head. Next simply twist your hair until it begins to coil. Next, start coiling your hair into a bun using your fingers as a guide to wrap your hair around until you get to the end. Take the tail end and tuck it under and into the bun. Make sure you’re twisting your hair tightly otherwise you’ll have a difficult time.
