This smokey eye is a different take on the traditional use of blacks, greys and whites with a
hint of colour which will really brighten up your eyes and create a quirky, funky look.
Begin with a natural beige eyeshadow close to the colour of your skin. Sweep across your
eye, bringing the colour slightly above your natural crease line and also into the inner
corners of your lids to highlight and open your eyes.
Using a sharp, soft kohl black pencil, line your eyes from the inner part of your lids to the
outer, following your eyelash line as shown in the photo. Create a small flick at the outer
corner of your eye. Repeat on your lower lash line, and bring the line to meet the flick at
the corners of your eye.
Using a dark brown eyeshadow, with a small eyeshadow brush sweep along the existing
line on your upper eyelids. This will soften the line and create that smokey effect. Bring the
darker colour just into the crease of your upper lids (see photo), which will give the
appearance of a smoky eye when your eyes are open. This is tactical as you will still be
able to see the natural colour which will give you the appearance of brighter, larger eyes.
Blend this colour into the crease of your eye using a soft blending eyeshadow brush. Take
a dark pink or red, and with a small eyeshadow brush carefully apply the colour between
the outer corner and middle of your eyelid. Gently blend with the darker colour on the
outside of your lids, being careful not to bring the colour too close to the inside of your lids.
Be sure to keep opening your eyes and checking how the colour and blending is looking
so you don’t apply too much colour.
Finally, coat your lashes with a black mascara and you’re done! You’ve created a funky
look by adding a dash of colour to your eyes which will look fabulous!
