How to Create the Perfect Messy Bun

Ladies, there are some days we just have a bad hair day, and there are days we simply don’t feel like doing our hair, are we right or what? You know these days; you wake up late, or you feel lazy, and you don’t want to spend a half-hour or longer doing your hair yet you want to still look modern and sexy! Learning how to create the perfect messy bun allows you to do just that – look modern and sexy!

Step-by-step instructions for creating the perfect messy bun:

Step 1: Finger brush your hair and create a ponytail just above the nape of your neck.

Step 2: Take a teaser comb and gently tease the hair in your ponytail. If you have never teased your hair before, you simply run the comb backwards up your hair in small strokes until all hair is teased.

Step 3: Spray a light-weight hairspray on the top of your head and on the teased ponytail.

Step 4: Start creating a bun (you do not have to be neat, as you want the messy bun look) and when you are halfway through your bun separate your hair into two sections.

Step 5: Take one section of hair (a section that you separated in Step 4 and wrap it around the bun.) Secure with Bobby pins.

Step 6: Gently spray your bun so that it stays but remember to allow hair to fall out where it naturally does. You do not want a polished looking bun.

Step 7: Complete your look by applying makeup if you do so.

Tips:

• Creating a messy bun works best on dry hair.

• You can create a romantic look for evening without having to redo your hair, simply curl the pieces of hair that fall out.

• Do not use a brush.

• You can “decorate” your messy bun my wrapping a hair tie, scrunchie or scarf around it.

• Remember brushing out hair that has been teased can be a pain in the rear, be patient, and you will have untangled hair before you know it.

You don’t need any special skills or talents when creating the perfect messy bun. It’s important to remember the messier your bun looks, the better. Creating this hairstyle is fun and quick. Why not try it tomorrow or for your next date night?
