We all want hair that is shiny, strong, and healthy! This article will show you that keeping your hair healthy is easy to accomplish!
Proper cleansing routine: Maintain the health of your hair by keeping your scalp and hair follicles happy. When shampooing, remember to massage your scalp all over by moving the pads of your fingertips in small circular motions. This invigorates the scalp and stimulates hair growth. This is a given, but always remember to condition your hair because the shampoo strips your hair of it’s natural and essential oils. Even if your hair tends to be oily, don’t skip the conditioner! Just apply the conditioner starting at the mid-shaft and applying through the ends, but avoid applying to the scalp and roots.
Be careful when brushing! Many people don’t realize this, but brushing your hair too roughly or carelessly causes premature breakage creating split ends so always take care when brushing your hair! It’s best to start at the bottom of your hair, removing the tangles and knots as you work your way towards the root.
Protect from heat: Everyone knows that heat is harsh and damaging to your hair, but not everyone takes the proper precautions to preserve the healthy state of their hair before blasting it with heat and frying it between hot flat irons. A simple precautionary step to protecting your hair is to apply a little bit of smoothing pomade or serum into your hair before blow drying or styling it with any heated styling tools. **Split ends stay away longer if you make sure to protect your hair from the elements.
Volume, volume and more volume: When people picture ideal, dream hair they picture full voluminous locks. You can achieve volumized hair many different ways, but the easiest and my most used technique is blow drying your hair upside down. Or, you can use wide velcro rollers all over to create the same effect, but with more waves.
Be touchable: Smooth shiny locks are a telltale sign of healthy hair, but not only do you want it to look soft, you want it to feel soft as well. When setting your hair with hairspray, choose a spray that still sets your style, but leaves your hair touchable. I like “Suave Professionals Touchable Finish” because it’s budget friendly and works really well. Another way to soften your hair is to give yourself a deep conditioning treatment at home using any conditioner you have. Shampoo your hair and then turn off the water and towel dry your hair to remove some moisture. After you towel dry flip your head over upside down and apply a generous amount of shampoo to your hair starting mid-shaft and then working it into the tips. Make sure your hair is saturated with conditioner before wrapping a towel around your head and letting the conditioner sit for about an hour before rinsing out.
Practice these haircare techniques regularly, and you’ll see that keeping your hair healthy is simpler than you thought possible!
