We have all been there. It’s late at night- you know you need to wash your hair. You fall asleep on the couch promising you’ll wake up early and do it, and then- of course- you wake up late. This DIY dry shampoo will help to soak up that extra grease and add some volume as well!
Here’s what you’ll need:
1/2 cup corn starch
1/2 cup baking soda
2 tbl rice flour (you can omit this if you don’t have it and the shampoo will still be pretty effectice)
10-15 drops essential oil of your choice
Mix together the dry ingredients. Drop the essential oils in one drop at a time, making sure to mix in a quick manner so it doesn’t dry and create hard crater-like chunks, kind of like how you might whisk an egg if that makes sense. Add enough to suit your fragrance preferences.
Store in a mason jar or an empty spice shaker for easy application!
For my thick blonde hair, I sprinkle some on a fine tooth comb and work into my roots only. This does the trick for me, however you may need to sprinkle directly n the scalo and work into your roots a little more vigorously I always make sure to take a flash photo of the top of my head to make sure I haven’t applied too much.
If you have dark hair, I have heard of people adding chocolate powder to create a darker color so it isn’t quite as obvious.
Hope this DIY dry shampoo recipe works as well for you as it does for me!
