Hair How To: Braided Headband

So my sister asked me how I do my braided headband last week and I figured it would make an awesome tutorial so I snapped some pictures while I talked her through it.  You’re hair can be clean or next day hair, doesn’t really matter with this style and it’s all about your preference anyway.  It looks great with all hair textures – curly, wavy or straight, take your pick!  Grab a few bobby pins and some hairspray…

  1. Grab a strand of hair, one from each side of the nape of your neck.  Strands should be about 1″ to 1.5″ thick.  Separate strands by letting them hang over the front of your shoulders while you take the rest of your hair and ponytail it out of the way.  Don’t tie hair too tight, this is just temporary to separate your hair while you braid.
  2. Once you have your hair separated braid each strand and pull it over your head, placing it in the desired position, and secure with bobby pins.  Repeat with second strand crossing it over the first braid and also securing with bobbies.
  3. Take the ponytail out and fluff.  Arrange your hair over your braids as desired and finish the look with a good misting of hairspray on the braid.

Now I know I always tell you guys to mix it up and customize the looks and styles I write about, but how can I not?!  There are so many different versions of this style that I simply can’t resist encouraging you to try them!  Find the versions and variations of the braided headband that work best for you and don’t forget to snap a photo, beautiful!  Share your styles with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter by tagging #TheBeautyThesis and I will feature the best ones on Instagram (@TheKrisieThesis).
