Money Savers: The Best At-Home Waxes

Save some money and hold off on making that appointment with the waxing lady at the spa by using an at home waxing kit instead!

wax strips article

Don’t be intimidated by the thought of taking this matter into your own hands, there are plenty of easy to use kits that you can purchase at Wal-Mart or Target at a fair price.  Choosing one might be the difficult part since there are so many different brands and types to choose from.  There are three main types of waxes you can buy,  the traditional wax that you apply and then remove with strips, the pre-made wax strips that you conveniently peel and use, and hard wax that you heat, apply and then peel off once it’s hardened a bit.  My personal favorite for bikini or Brazilian waxes is the hard wax because it’s convenient and you tend to have more control over the placement because the strips always seem to block my view so I’m never quite comfortable giving myself a bikini or Brazilian with waxes that you use with strips or that come on pre-made strips.  A good had wax is GiGi’s “Microwave Brazilian Bikini Wax” which is $12 at Sally Beauty Supply.  Although for my overall top favorite (because of convenience, results, and price) I’d have to pick Veet’s “Ready to Use Wax Strips for Legs & Body” (sensitive formula with Almond Oil).  These strips are usually the most affordable ones on the shelves of Target and Wal-Mart and are more than easy to use.  You could even cut them up into small strips to use on your face as well.  For a pack of 40 strips it’s $9 and includes these nifty little wipes that remove any excess wax residue from your skin.  The results are phenomenal and always leave my legs feel smooth and hairless for over a month!  Sometimes it pays to ditch the old razor for more thorough waxing.

If you run out of those post-was wipes, baby oil or coconut oil works… I’ve used both!
