Brighten up your eyes this fall by accenting a classic smokey eye with a little bit of bold color. This fall smokey eye is subtle, yet bright, and this look could swing from day to night or work to play any day! Just pick a bold bright color, a dark color for smokiness, and a shimmery color to blend! I used “Orange” as my base, “Chrome Yellow” as my accent, and “Espresso” as my smokiness (all three are by MAC Cosmetics). For the shimmer to blend I used a mica based “Shimmer Dust” made by La Femme (purchased at a random wig shop in Fresno). Those were my choices, but do what you like!
I like to do my eye shadow before the rest of my makeup so that in case any extra shadow gets dusted onto my cheeks or under my eyes it can be easily removed without rubbing off my already applied concealer or foundation. Always start with a clean face! And always use primer! It really helps the shadow stick to your lids and that helps the color to be more true and vibrant. Once your eyes are primed and ready, apply a soft layer of your base. Keep in mind that you’ll be covering your base up and blending over it with your smokiness so add a few layers if you want to make sure you can still see traces of the color peeking through. Next dab your crease with your smokey color and then blend it in with the base color. Apply the accent color to your lower lash-line and a little bit on the inner corner of your eyelids. Then blend even more when applying a light layer of the shimmer. Apply the rest of your makeup and then finish with a spritz of makeup setting spray before applying your mascara. (I use the $3 Makeup Mist & Set by ELF). Despite the fact that their new line of lash curlers should be called lash cutters and the other fact that I’m STILL working on growing out my lashes…I still love them to pieces! Just like you! Well on second thought, I love you guys more. 😉
