Love the adorable, and oh so affordable ring selection at Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe, but hate the way they tarnish after getting wet? I do too! I set out for a solution trying everything from drying my hands rigorously after washing, to removing before washing, but both of those options failed me. Big time. Well more so the removing before washing. I absentmindedly left two of my favorite costume pieces out on two different occasions, and while they were both purchases that were under five dollars, it still was a bit of a loss for me since I haven’t found similar designs since. Definitely bummed about it, but this new trick definitely has raised my spirits!
My sister tipped me off with this nifty and oh so blog-worthy trick. All you need is a can of photo-mount or spray adhesive. I got the 3M one for about $4 at Michaels. All you need to do is lay down some wax paper or parchment paper to work on so that your rings can dry on a nice non-stick surface. Lay your rings out with a good inch and a half of a radius around each one. Spray them with an even coat of the photo-mount spray and let dry for at least 5 minutes or until they are dry to the touch. Once they’re dry, flip them over and repeat the process once more to seal the coat. Let dry for 10 minutes, and voila! You now have water-proof rings that won’t turn your fingers that icky green color!
